Scott accepts award

    for Clerk’s office

    
An award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been presented to Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court Barbara T. Scott for her agency’s preparation of the county’s Comprehensive Annual Finance Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2006.

    It is the 21st consecutive year the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award has been presented to the county by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

    First elected in 1984, Scott’s job includes serving as the official recorder and custodian of the court and county records while working as the chief financial officer and auditor. Scott is completing her sixth term of office.

    The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Ill., and Washington, D.C.
