Sunloft Center expects its certificate of occupancy soon

Sunloft Center, the mixeduse building located at 201 W. Marion Ave. in downtown Punta Gorda is pleased to announce an expected certificate of occupancy sometime before the end of October, and it could be sooner.

As I watch the construction of the new city of Punta Gorda parking garage from a balcony at the Sunloft Center, it brings back memories of when the Sunloft Center property looked very similar. Punta Gorda is rising up, demonstrating the spirit of the people and showing the beauty of the area.

The Sunloft Center is designed for restaurant/retail at street level, professional offices on the second and third floor, and boutique residences with a downtown loft ambiance on the fourth, plus a common-area sky garden terrace, an attached parking garage with 110 covered parking spaces and an opento-the-sky common-area interior courtyard.

The fourth floor, which can be viewed at www.sunloftcen ter.com, shows 15 unique boutique

residences. Click on floorplan to see the detailed layout of each residence. Punta Gorda Construction Management is building out the residence at the corner of Sullivan Street and Marion Avenue; it will soon be ready for occupancy. The remaining three residences on Marion will be partially built out, with the details to be completed by the prospective owner. Construction manager Ken Dunn estimates the residence can be completed within eight weeks after he has the owner’s final design plan.

As for the remaining 11 residences, we are allowing for flexibility due to current market conditions. The downtown loft-style residences have no comparison in our area; what other city can stand up to the beauty of Punta Gorda. This is not an average cookie-cutter building. Of course, seeing is believing, so come take a look.

Office space on the second and third floors, with more than 34,000 square feet of prestigious interior and exterior views, is ready to negotiate. Contact Ron Struthers at CB Richard Ellis, 941-769-3316 or rstruthers@ cbre-ftmyers.com for details.

The premier restaurant location at the corner of Taylor and Marion street level is in the process of getting ready for Jack’s, a new, casual, right-forthe-times restaurant offering everyday service morning, afternoon and evening for the professional offices, residence owners, locals and visitors from all over. Jack’s, now in the design process, will have a bustling atmosphere with a semi-open kitchen and a festive Floridian flair.

Jack’s will offer: Morning at Jack’s — Coffee with a breakfast theme, take out and delivery within the Sunloft Center; Lunch at Jack’s; Afternoon Tea at Jack’s; happy hour; Event Center Menu at Jack’s; Dinner at Jack’s; and late night pastries, coffee, pizza and light fare at the bar.

On street level, approximately 6,000 square feet of restaurant and retail is available. Please contact Ron Struthers, CB Richard Ellis, at 941-769-3316 or rstruthers@ cbre-ftmyers.com for details.

In October, Gallery Joe Mathis will host an art gallery event at the Sunloft Center that is currently in the planning stage.

When Hurricane Charley destroyed the Professional Center in August, 2004, my wife and I contacted an architect in Seaside, Fla., one of the famous urban design towns in the Florida Panhandle coast, to replace this unfortunate situation with a building that would energize the center location of our downtown

Thanks to that architect, William Pantsari, working with Ken Dunn, Punta Gorda Construction Management, and an owner with a vision for Punta Gorda, we are on track to see this happen, along with the many exciting projects happening in Charlotte County.
